One Institution,
Multiple Knowledge Systems

For generations across India, knowledge lived in practice in the way forests were read, fields were cultivated, homes were built from what surrounded them. This was never folklore. It was science, engineering, design, and ecology passed from hand to hand. When these systems fade, we do not just lose tradition. We lose climate-responsive architecture, water-conserving agriculture, seed sovereignty, and material literacy. Today, schools are searching for exactly what this knowledge offers: education that is experiential, grounded, and connected to the real world. We work at this intersection. FIEK documents living knowledge systems and integrates them into contemporary learning so traditional wisdom continues to evolve while enriching how future generations think, build, and grow.

How We Bring
Learning to Life

Learning is most meaningful when students experience the world they are studying.  FIEK partners with schools to turn campuses into living laboratories where students measure garden plots to understand geometry, test soil pH to grasp chemistry, and build with earth and bamboo to feel physics in their hands. They spin cotton to connect fibre structure with tension and torque. They trace a seed's journey from soil to harvest to understand biology, economics, and climate in a single, coherent arc.

Rooted in India's living knowledge traditions and aligned with NEP 2020, our programmes help students cultivate, construct, and interrogate sustainability directly  while strengthening your existing curriculum and respecting your academic calendar.

The farm becomes the science lab. The craft workshop becomes the design studio. The land becomes the textbook.

What We Do : Education Programme Pillars

The Living Classroom Framework Brings Learning to Life Through Immersive, Hands-on Experiences.

Our programmes transform school campuses into living laboratories where students learn through exploration, making, observation, and inquiry. Each learning pathway connects ecology, indigenous knowledge, and experiential education while strengthening understanding across multiple disciplines. Whether exploring biodiversity, tracing cotton from fibre to cloth, building with earth, or cultivating food, every experience is designed to turn curiosity into deeper understanding.

Nature as Classroom

A year-long, NEP-aligned farming and sustainability curriculum. Students co-create and maintain an organic garden on their own campus, applying maths, biology and economics to a plot of real land.

Cotton to Cloth

From a raw cotton boll to a woven cloth. Students spin on a charkha, extract natural dye, and weave on a tapestry loom, tracing India's textile heritage through science, history and craft.

The Shelters

Immersive natural-building workshops in earth, bamboo and lime. Students construct a real miniature or life-sized structure, learning load, structure and material science by building, not reading.

Earth Dialogues happens every second Saturday at Maahi Permaculture Farm, an open, unhurried gathering for anyone who wants to slow down and reconnect with land, tradition and community. No credentials required. Just curiosity.  Open workshops in natural building and agroecology. Fellowships for researchers and documentation practitioners.
